Battery Hire

EBT offers hire of e-bike batteries for Bosch, Shimano and eZee equipped ebikes - ideal for travelers who are unable to bring their e-bike battery with them or locals wanting to tackle an adventure ride with an additional battery. 

Bookings are essential, with the more notice the better, and we need specific details of the battery's model/part number (this is generally written on the battery itself)

Please send us the following photos so we can be sure to supply the correct battery:

1. Photo of the entire bike 
2. Photo of the entire battery, removed from the bike
3. Photo of the serial and part numbers of the battery

Payment of your purchase confirms your booking. If you are still in the planning stages by all means get in touch about your plans, but no batteries will be reserved or availability guaranteed until payment has been made. This is because in many cases we have to purchase a brand new battery to fulfil a hire request.

The batteries we rent out will be the 'naked' battery only - no third party covers, spacers, handles etc available for hire. This means for some e-bikes such as Riese and Muller, your battery (well, our battery) will be a little more exposed to the elements. However, in other cases it simply won't fit in your bike unless you transfer over the auxiliary bits from your battery to ours. The Trek RIB system is one such example of this. You will need to take all those bits off and bring them with you, to fit to our hire battery. Or if you are bringing your battery and renting ours as an extra one, you'll need to move all those parts over each time you swap batteries. Not ideal, but as one customer put it - "it's easier than riding for half the day without power!"

Your days of hire are calculated based on the day that you want to pick up the battery until the day that you return it. We do not charge for the days that the battery is in transit when freighting out to you or back to us.

If you require the battery to be sent to your starting point, we can arrange that. Please let us know when it must arrive by for your trip and also what the earliest it can arrive by. It is much easier if you can choose a place where it's okay for it to arrive several days early. For example, an unstaffed accommodation like an Airbnb is not a good place for us to send a battery to ahead of your trip.

While we can send the battery to basically any address for the start of your ride, we cannot arrange pickups from residential addresses at the end of your trip, the couriers are simply too unpredictable with residential pickups.

Your options are:

1. Drop your battery off to the closest Post Haste/Castle Parcels courier depot and we can have it sent back to us from there. 
2. Leave your battery at a staffed accommodation facility, such as a hotel concierge or motel reception
3. Leave your battery at a willing bike shop. You can enquire to local bike shops to check that they're happy with this arrangement or contact us for a recommendation

We will need to know the address you're going to use before we ship the battery out, so that we can have the battery shipping label and dangerous goods paperwork prepared in advance and included with the battery that we ship out. This will make it much easier to arrange its return. 

Please choose the option you need and in the order notes specify your pick up and drop off days and the part number of the battery you require. Follow up with an email with a photo of your bike and your battery showing its model numbers.

Hire does not include a charger, please bring your own. If that is not possible, we can offer a charger for $20/month or part thereof (eg $20 even just for the weekend).
